2. Artistic paints

▪ The different types of supports.

An approach to the main supports normally used in oil painting. criteria and care to be taken in your selection.

- Different screen typologies;

- The wooden panels;

- How they should be prepared – Preparations modern VS traditional preparations.

- How to control the absorptions of the preparations;

- Approach to other supports: glass, metals, stone…

▪ How to build a grid and what are the characteristics

that it must have;

▪ How to stretch the canvas;

Constitution of a paint. The main differences between paints;

▪ Historical and obsolete pigments;

▪ Permanence (ASTM and BS), opacity and transparency of pigments;

▪ Reading a label;

▪ Student / Professional and Premium paints – Main differences;

20th day:

4. Varnishing 

▪ Function, utility and constitution of mediums;

▪ Medium typologies;

▪ How to use a medium;

▪ What is the function of the Varnish and is it´s application important?

▪  Different types of Varnish. - How is a varnish made?

▪  Health and Safety.

▪  How to apply a varnish, details to be aware. Types of application.

▪  What characteristics should the brushes have?

▪ How to control the brightness.

▪  The Wax varnish.

▪  Retouching Varnish - Function and application.

▪ Demonstration of how to apply varnish.

▪  Open time for questions.
